11th Rainforest World Music Festival – The Arrival at Santubong Resort
I miss my late grandfather (I called him ‘Ah Kung’) and the memories of him fetching me from kindergarten with his old bicycle, climbing his rambutan and ciku trees at his backyard, went to do my ‘business’ at his favorite toilet located at the backyard (although there is a proper toilet in the house) where the toilet door is made of gunny sacks only, helping him to water his garden from the pond (just because I liked to bath here), plucking spring onions and bean sprouts for sale, learn to make fermented vegetable, went fishing at the streams in his pepper farm and get to experience the whole process of producing good quality pepper.
Speaking of which explains Sarawak is the best pepper producer and had the best pepper quality in the world. 🙂
As the team approaching the cat city, our bus broke down at 7th Miles due to technical problems and we waited for 2 hours (under the rain) for the bus to be fixed before we continue our journey to Santubong Resort – the team official accommodation venue.
# Gunung Santubong from far
Honestly, this is my first time to Santubong Resort and noticed the hotel lobby is located separately from the hotel rooms. The hotel main lobby is attached to the coffeehouse, the lounge and the ballrooms blocks whereas the hotel rooms are separated at other blocks. I guess this is what they called the chalet concept. The resort swimming pool is located opposite the main lobby.

Apparently, the Damai Golf & Country Club is located just next to the resort as well.
We loaded our luggage and checked in to our respective rooms where I shared with 3 others female team member. The room is quite spacey with two queen size bed and same goes with the bathroom too. The bathroom even had dry and wet areas where you can have your shower at a designated corner and it has a bath-tub too located at another designated corner. It has quite wide sink with a big mirror on the wall and this is where I put on my make-up each time after I had my shower.
A round marble table and two wooden chairs placed nicely at the room’s balcony and sitting here while sipping a hot coffee with couple of ciggie sticks is such a relaxing moments. This is also where I had casual conversations with my team members and discussed some related work matters with MGK9’s boss.

I was told that the MGK9 team itself had occupied 18 rooms of the chalet and apparently the main organizer teams (Sarawak Tourism Board) inclusive of the committee member and volunteers, the RWMF’s performers, the media team, domestic and international room guests are staying here too.
Santubong Resort has indeed become the official accommodation for the annual RWMF’s event.
Are you still with me here? If yes, stay tuned the next post on next Monday.
At the mean time, I want to enjoy my week-end with my boo. 🙂
