A trip to my hometown

This is a backlog post on my recent trip to my hometown; official cum leisure trip for me. I’m sure my readers have been waiting patiently for this especially UK. ;p

Here goes…

Curtains open.

As expected, there wasn’t any excess baggage charged upon checking in at the RAS (Rural Air Services) counter; simply because of the travel light version. I bumped into my colleague (with her 2 cute sons) who is going to KK for the week end get-a-way trip, which makes me can’t wait to go to Sabah next year; by God’s willing lah ehekk… ;p

As the children were so anxious to check in the departure hall, I decided to accompany my colleague and checked in early though I still need to wait for an hour for my flight. As usual, I would always end up spending my quiet moment in a small confined room located at the side of the departure hall. ;p

Miri’s airstrip from air

It was a full flight on the departure day

As I boarded the plane, I just couldn’t wait to take some snaps from the air. But the digicam has turned me down; all the pictures taken don’t meet my likings, poor quality. Of which in-directly telling me that I need a better quality of digicam. 🙁

Spotted an oil palm plantation estate

A close up of it

There are plenty of oil palm plantation estates along the way…wonder to whom does it belong?

To fly to Marudi only takes up 15 minutes of your time. Another route to access Marudi is by river; a 2.5 or 3 hours express boat ride (depending on the water level). Rumors’ has been spreading around that Marudi cannot be access via land due to the ‘mutual agreement’ agreed among the express boat operators and the relevant authorities. But nowadays, you can travel by land to Marudi. Due to the improper road system (as its illegal route) one has to travel by 4-wheel vehicles for 2 hours. A ferry will bring you across the Baram river for RM30 per trip.

It is quite amazing to see the Baram River from above. I felt fortunate simply because I am still alive to appreciate God’s creation.

I get really excited taking some snaps and to my surprise, I’ve landed safely at Marudi airport. On my way getting out from the plane, I managed to take some shots of the airport.

Then later I proceed to the venue where I’ll be for my official trip; Marudi Civic Centre. Yes, I’m participating in a career fair organized by Marudi Labour Department. Honestly, my ‘presence’ here is just for public awareness and if it is wasn’t because of a ‘request’ from the Assistant Director of Marudi Labour Dept (my cousin), I wouldn’t be bother to fly here, really. ;p

As I was partially on official and leisure trip (I spend quality time with close family members most of the time), I didn’t spend much time exploring sleepy Marudi town but I’m coming back again here next month. I promise I’ll explore every single corner of Marudi for my next post in my blog. And as what my GodFather has promised me, he’s going to bring me to a cock-fighting; a popular week end activity among the gamblers. 😉

Or I can just sit back and enjoy more than 100 tv channels at home huhuhu…

See how small is Astro dish ;p

My trip wouldn’t be complete without having breakfast at my favourite coffeeshop simply because they serve the most delicious kuey tiaw I ever tasted; Marudi Kuey Tiaw. The uniqueness of this kuey tiaw lies on its home made noodle. I’ve tasted Marudi Kuey Tiaw served at Miri’s coffeeshop and nothing can beat the original taste and flavour of Marudi Kuey Tiaw. Trust me…;)

Marudi Kuey Tiaw has bigger size as compared to the common kuey tiaw size

Well above all, there is nothing better than appreciating home cooked dishes. Knowing that I’ll be back home, my grandmother prepared my favourite dishes; Daun Ubi, Bittergourd Leaves and Kepayang.

Daun Ubi @ Tapioca Leave with Pork Skin

BitterGourd Leaves with Young Bittergourd fruits

Buah Kepayang – well cooked with plenty of onions & chilli

I cried in silence when I reached my home the other day. I begin to realize that I really need my family support throughout my life journey. I’m sorry for letting you guys down in any way for being as what I am right now; self minded person. I felt like I’ve just completed an anti-depression therapy session without the medication…of course with flying colors.

I feel so so homesick now…sob sob sob… 🙁

Curtain close.
