Craving for Indian Food

I’ve heard about it, I’ve even read about others review on it and I’ve been procrasinating of checking the place out until last night, I finally dined at the place. The place that I’m refering to is Banana Leaf Rice Restaurant of which is also just next to Ipoh Town Kopitiam (my favorite place for white coffee). 🙂

The place were not packed probably it was due to the raya celebration so I didn’t need to wait that long for the food to be served. I opt for the white rice set (you can opt for nasi beriyani too) that comes with curry gravy, vegetable for the day(spinach and bittergourd) and papadum (a crispy Indian flatbread). On top of that, I’ve ordered fried chicken (they gave me chicken drumstick – my favorite) for my protein intake. ;p

that's my white rice on a banana leaf

I was excited when the staff started to serve the rice on the banana leaf. It’s quite entertaining to see them pouring the gravy on the rice and asking you on which type of gravy would you like to have. I requested for dal (lentil) gravy and chicken curry gravy to be poured on top of my rice and the staff poured it nicely and equally.

the chicken curry gravy is on the left and the dal curry gravy is on the right

yummmyyyyy..wanna go there again :)

You may also requested for more rice, gravy or condiments should the earlier portion was not enough to accommodate your appetite level without any extra charge. 😉

The best part  is to eat those food with your bare fingers instead of using the spoon and fork. It taste so bloody tasty. I guess it must be the germs from my fingers instead of the food. ;p

by flipping the banana leaf toward you is indicating that you are satisfied with the food - indian custom

It was a filling dinner for me, I was happy and worth for my money. Just that I feel the restaurant owner should consider of providing lassi (a yogurt based drink) to compliment the ‘hot’ food intake.

Anyway, I definitely will go back there again. 🙂
