Jesus and Muhammad

I was told this book is been banned for sale in Malaysia and I have the privilege to read it. It took me 5 days to really ‘absorb’ the contents.

I strongly encouraged those who are still consider themselves ‘lost’ in spiritual world to read this or to those who are doing research on religions, do use this book as one of your reference either to support your thesis or to spread the news that has benefit and enrich you spiritually.

First of all, I would like to introduce the book author that goes by the name of Mark A. Gabriel PhD. You might wonder what makes this author qualified to come out with this book. This is because he had already met (literally) Jesus and Muhammad. The author was born with a muslim name with a PhD in Islamic history and culture, a former lecturer at the most respected, authoritative Islamic university in the world (Al-Azhar University) and below are his academic credentials in Islamic scholarship;
– bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate degrees in Islamic History and Culture from Al-Azhar University, Cairo, Eypt
– graduating 2nd in his class of 6000 students from his bachelor degree. This ranking was based on cumulative scores of oral & written exams given at the end of each school year.
– one of the youngest lecturer ever hired at Al-Azhar University. He started lecturing after he finished his master degree and was working to finish his doctorate.
– traveling lecturer. The university sent him to countries around the Middle East as lecturer in Islamic history.

In addition to his academic training, he had practical experience, serving as imam at a mosque in Cairo suburbs.

After he became a Christian, he pursued Christian educations. His credentials in Christian education include;
– Discipleship Training School with Youth With a Mission in Cape Town, South Africa.
– Master degree in World Religion from Florida Christian University, Orlando, Florida (2001)
– Doctorate degree in Christian Education from Florida Christian University, Orlando, Florida (2002)
– Induction as a fellow in Oxford Society of Scholars, Sept 2003
.

I don’t see the book provoke neither does it will change your mind or perception immediately towards Islam and Christian but I see it as an eye opener because it is said both Bible and Quran say the truth will prove itself true (Acts 5:33-40; Surah 2:256).

The book is logically organized to guide the readers through;
Section 1
Where the author shares his background on how he came to see the life of Jesus and Muhammad side by side.

Section 2
Where you’ll get to see what Jesus and Muhammad did with their lives. I get to see amazing parallels such as both men were prophesied over as children, both had cousins who introduced them to the public, both were rejected by their hometown and both were assisted by 12 disciples.

Section 3
Where it focuses on the legacy both men left behind by their teaching and examples.

Section 4
Where it give a summary of important facts about Jesus and Muhammad.

Being a Christian, as I go further exploring my findings in this book, I had some ‘goose bumps’ experience aka shocking discoveries as well.

Finding no. 1

It is said in the Quran where a Muslim is allowed to have 4 wives but Muhammad was an exception. He reported a revelation that defined the women he was permitted to marry in (Surah 33:50, Ali Translation). Muhammad actually had 13 wives and in this book the author reveals his wives names.

Finding no. 2
Muhammad wrote a marriage contract with wife no. 2 – Aisha when she was 6 years old (Aisa was the daughter of one of his most loyal follower – Abu Bakr) and consummated his marriage with her while she was 9 years old and she remained with him for nine years (till his death).

Finding no. 3
When Muhammad died, he left 9 living widows and they were prohibited from remarrying after his death (Surah 33;6,52).

Finding no. 4
In addition to his wives, he had another group of women at his disposal. These are female slaves whom he purchased or acquired as P.O.W. Islamic law permitted Muhammad to use them sexually without being marrying them. Any resulting child would not carry the name of Muhammad or take any inheritance from him. There are 23 female slaves listed by name in Islamic history.

Finding no. 5
Although Abu Talib (Muhammad’s uncle) raised him since young after the death of his mother and grandfather, he never converts to Islam even to his last breath.

Enough said. There are many more of my shocking findings and due to the sensitivity level of it, the findings stops here. To find out more, you can only indulge yourself by reading it yourself.

The author now resides in the States after he blurted out the truth to his father on Christianity. He was fired 5 bullets by his own father and within days, he left Egypt permanently.

And I personally liked the author quote where it says…

…No one should be forced to accept any belief system but everyone should have access to any information they want and the opportunity to make a decision without the fear of what other people might do to them.

ps – now im looking forward to read 2 more books written by the same author entitled “Islam and Terrorism” & Journey into the Mind of an Islamic Terrorist“. i wish the author himself send me these books with his signatures on it. (ya how i wish)
