The Mid-Autumn Cake

Moon cake is a traditional Chinese pastry which normally served during the mid-autumn festival. During the festival, moon cake usually offered to friends or during a family gathering. In the Chinese calendar, the 15th day of 8th lunar month is known as ‘Mid-Autumn’ and it was officially declared as ‘Mid-Autumn Festival’ during the Song dynasty. This year, the Moon Cake Festival falls on September 12th.

Although the festival is still far, moon cakes are already on sale at bakeries or even at the supermarkets. Today, I ate two types of moon cake courtesy of my colleague. The sweetness taste was just nice and very tender.

Next, I would love to try the glutinous rice type of moon cake.

Have you received any moon cake as gift from friends lately?
Ever tasted a moon cake before? If not, I reckon you to buy one otherwise get your friend to buy you one. 🙂
