Season come, season go.
Whatever happens last year seems to happen yesterday and that just show how time flies really fast especially when you get to experience not-to-be-missed occasion in the heart of Borneo jungle. Yes, I’m referring to the one and only unique festival; The Rainforest World Music Festival.
This year gonna be my 3rd year participation the upcoming 2010 Rainforest World Music Festival and I found it getting more ‘uummppphhh’ each year. How could I miss such a thing just right behind my backyard???
I started to experience this unique world level music festival back in year 2008 as a part-timer under the umbrella of MGK9. MGK9 was appointed by the Sarawak Tourism Board as supporting partner (since 2006) to oversee the security services throughout the festival. During my 1st year of participation, I offer my assistance (on voluntary basis until present) to Mr. Leo (MGK9’s boss) in recruiting new part-timer under MGK9 and during my 2nd year of involvement, I was not only assisting in recruiting part-timer but also given the privilege to work on the security plan layout and schedules.
I wonder what sort of new task will be given to me this year? ;p
I am in the midst of recruiting new part timer and I feel some of you (who are interested/keen) may want to have some information on what to expect, right?
So, here goes..
What does the part timer do?
You are known as part timer as you will be working under MGK9 therefore you are bound to every single terms and condition of MGK9. In short, MGK9’s boss (including myself ;p )has the right to treat you as MGK9 own staff. Matured candidate of part timer is preferable (no ah beng & ah lian ok).
To name a few of the expected tasks; ‘flashing’, patrolling and controlling flow of traffic at designated areas, security check at main entrances, back stage, front stage, ‘audio’ stage, VIP stage within the festival compound. Not to mention ad-hoc tasks will be assign to you from time to time.
You’ll be working on shift basis (day or night shift under hot/raining weather) and you’re expected to be punctual upon reporting for duty. Termination of your role as a part timer will be executed on the spot should you fail to perform during your shift.
Do I get paid for being as a part timer?
Yes!! You’ll be given an allowance of RM50 per day (allowance commence only during the 3 days event). Food and accommodation is provided. You’ll be staying at Santubong Resort Inn and free shuttle transportation is provided from the hotel to the festival venue (only to those bearing official name tag).
Is transportation from my place to Kuching covered/paid?
As MGK9 is based in Miri, only the Miri part timer group’s transportation (MYY-KCH-MYY) is covered and will travel by land. The Miri part timer team will depart on the 6th Jul 2010, 8:20pm. Transportation is not provided and is under own expenses for outside Miri area or for those who wish to travel under their own preferences.
Do I need to put on uniform?
Yes!! MGK9 t-shirt will be provided and you are required to wear it during your shift. It may be wear with any type of suitable long pant (jean type of material is acceptable) but mini-skirt, short/hot pant, khakis pant are totally prohibited.
I’m interested. How do I sign up?
Leave your details such as full name and valid contact number under my ‘Contact Me’ and I’ll personally get in touch with you for further information. 😉
When is the closing date?
For now, there are only 20 seats available and it’s first come, first serve basis.
So, what are you waiting for? Do sign up if you’re interested and if you’re not, just sit back and wait for my review in the 14th Rainforest World Music Festival. 😉
